Pug Rescue

Dee Finch from www.Peoplefood4Dogs.com is a volunteer with pug rescue. She sent me an email about a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Yardo Ducic, who reconstructed this abused pug's jaw so the dog could chew and bark once again. The dog was most likely kicked in the face to cause the injury and then abandoned. When one of Dee's fellow pug rescue volunteers contacted a surgeon known for reconstructing people's faces, either after some kind of surgery or some kind of cancer of the face or neck at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, he had this to say, "It's one of those things — you don't do it for any reason other than you feel like you are supposed to." Dr. Ducic contacted a medical equipment company for donating supplies such as instruments, plates, and screws that are very expensive. Ducic had never preformed surgery on a dog, but along with a staff, donated his time and skill to carefully and methodically reconstructed Boca's (apropos) jaw — a surgery that would have cost a human between $25,000 and $40,000.

You're right Dee. That is kindness!

Such a wonderful act of kindness! Don't find many people who would give of their time and talent like Dr. Ducic did.

Stepping out of his expertise

The fact that he was willing to step out of his field of expertise was also surprising to me. He was an adept surgeon working on people but a pug has got to be a very different thing.

It does feel good to see someone with that much skill do work and ask for nothing in return!
