The Kindness Ring Experiment - returned

Tina's picture

Remember the Kindness Ring experiment? I had this idea to follow the chain of kindness to see it grow by giving a complete stranger a String-Ring with this message on the box: You've been chosen to receive this String-Ring, the Kindness Reminder Ring, to wear because you've been caught being kind. Since kindness is contagious, please Pass it On! When you witness a stranger doing something kind, pass the ring on to them and send me a message about your experience. Hopefully, they too, will Pass Kindness On.

Well, I mustered up just enough courage to hand a String-Ring box to a helpful store employee at a local Kohl's with a business card and information inside the box. I had chalked it up as a loss because it has been over 3 months now. So, I was surprised to see it in my mailbox this afternoon. I guess the lady wasn't up for the challenge and I can totally understand. It is difficult for some (myself included) to go up to a total stranger and hand them a gift unless you're an extrovert. Walking up to someone you don't know and saying, "This is for you" is awkward. But the fact that she would return a piece of sterling silver jewelry was a testament to her good character and I call that a successful mission. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for my next kindness research test subject.

Pick me, pick me

LOL, just kidding. I'm going to break down and buy one (lol). Check out what your ring inspired me to do - http://haveyougainedweight.blogspot.com/2010/07/happy-b-day-to-me.html

String-Ring inspired you to do all those acts of kindness? Cool! Keep living from the heart and doing RAOK. Kindness is contagious.
