Another Reason Why I Love My Job

I've blogged before about how the power of a kind note from a customer can turn a difficult day into a beautiful day. This one is my all time favorite. We had just begun selling String-Rings in March of 2008 when I received this email just a few weeks later.

The message read:
At the beginning of this month (May, 2008), I had surgery on my neck, during which they discovered that I had recurrent papillary thyroid cancer. I had, and survived, papillary thyroid cancer in October of 2005. I have begun the process of treatment now that I have recovered from the extensive surgery that was needed, both to remove all traces of the cancer and to attempt to prevent it in the future.

I tell you all of this because shortly after I came home from the hospital one of my best friends showed me your site. I was so touched!! The idea of being able to create my own symbol to aid me in getting through this emotional ordeal was just fantastic. Before I was able to order one of my own, my friend had one delivered to my home.

I am currently sporting my customized string ring. It bears white for peace and life, as well as yellow for optimism. I have always had great peace throughout both bouts of cancer, knowing that I would get through it and rise above it. I wear yellow to proudly show the world how optimistic I am.

I could hardly see the screen through my tears as I replied. This was the affirmation I needed in response to an uncertain course I had taken. After quitting my full time job in an attempt to balance my life and reprioritize, I took a huge leap of faith embarking on this String-Ring journey. I had a lot of fear and doubt as I entered mid-life about my purpose and what fulfilled me; in what direction should I go? When I received this email I knew I was on the right track! Jennifer touched me as much as String-Ring touched her.

I emailed Jennifer a couple of days ago and am happy to report that she has a clean bill of health and is doing wonderfully.
