Care Packages

This is a kindness story sent to me last week from a widow who received care packages during a difficult time. It reminds us that even the smallest gestures can mean so much!

I have been a widow for 4-1/2 years following a 21-year marriage. My 43-year-old husband died suddenly and unexpectedly from undiagnosed cardiovascular and hypertensive disease. During the first year after he died, another widow who I knew from an annual banquet we attended, sent me little "care packages" for every single holiday and special occasion. She sent body butter, candy, lotion, stuffed animals...something for all occasions...even Mardi Gras beads for Mardi Gras. I was dealing with creditors and estate matters, so my mailbox was full of mail that required my attention and it was all so difficult. When I saw an overstuffed envelope or little box, I would feel happy know that it was a little present from this special gal. I actually reached a point where I looked forward to checking my mail. We could all learn a lesson or two from my little friend with whom I feel a very special bond! I hope to hear from you as I too am writing a blog. I'd love to tell you about it as it is for widows and it might be something to share with your bloggers.

THANK YOU for your time and consideration,
Robin Craig
