String-Ring
My five year old daughter received one of these precious "String-Rings" last week as a gift. Wow! This is one of the most creative & thought provoking gifts I think I have ever run across. (Not to mention it is a beautiful ring!!)
While my daughter is not quite old enough to wear (nice) jewelry, she is old enough to learn the meanings behind each colored thread that comes with this ring.
The ring arrived with the red string already threaded. I seized the opportunity to discuss the meaning or "kindness reminder" of the red string with her. Red reminds us to always be kind to others. We went through all of the colored strings & their specific meanings together.
She wanted to keep the ring, but I told her she could have the ring picture inserts for now. Just as the different colored strings remind us to be kind - so too will the ring picture inserts serve as a reminder that Mommy is keeping something very special... just for her.
